This washed lot from Ethiopia showcases the floral vibrancy and silky texture we love in high-grown Ethiopian coffees. Expect delicate notes of orange blossom and jasmine, layered with juicy peach and a gentle milk chocolate finish. Clean, sessionable and smooth; we’ve roasted this lightly, finishing at a lower temperature to highlight its floral clarity and soft, chocolatey body.
This coffee comes from Mustefa Abakeno, who farms an extensive 18 hectares at an impressive altitude of 2,040 metres above sea level in the Jimma Zone of Western Ethiopia. But the real story lies in the dedication Mustefa brings not just to his own coffee, but to his wider community. In 2018, he built the Beshasha Washing Station, enabling him to process not only his own harvest but also cherries from neighbouring smallholders. For a region where small-scale coffee farming is the norm, access to high-quality processing like this can be game-changing.
Mustefa’s close partnership with Falcon Coffees (speciality green coffee traders) has helped elevate quality year-on-year. With support from their agronomist Harun, he’s introduced key improvements – from shade netting over drying beds to precise day lot separation and moisture monitoring in a small on-site lab, as well as ongoing training to Mustefa and neighbouring farms. This support not only improves cup quality, but also empowers farmers with knowledge and tools that strengthen their farms for the future.
This collaboration goes beyond the cup. It’s shortened the supply chain, redirected more value back to producers, and empowered local growers with knowledge and tools that make a lasting difference.
This lot is a direct result of that vision: clean, expressive, and full of purpose.
