This natural lot comes from Finca Monte Alto, a high‑altitude farm in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica – one of the country’s most celebrated areas for complex, expressive coffee. Sitting at 2,000 metres above sea level, Monte Alto is one of two farms operated by Café Directo, a family‑run business led by father‑daughter duo Gerardo and Jennifer Arias. True to its name, Monte Alto (“high mountain”) sits among the clouds, producing exceptional high‑grown arabica with remarkable clarity and character.
Founded in 2013, Café Directo focuses on producing and processing outstanding microlots in harmony with the environment. With over 30 years of experience, the team specialises in washed, honey, anaerobic, and natural processes — each handled with deep respect for quality and sustainability.
This natural lot was selectively hand‑harvested, floated to remove under‑ripes, and slow‑dried on raised beds and patios for around 30 days. The result is a beautifully layered cup, showcasing bright fruit character and a clean, balanced structure.
