Ibanda is a village in the northern part of the Kasese District situated in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Field officers have been working with farmers to improve the quality of harvests by introducing improved practices, in turn rewarding a higher price to the farmers.
Ripe, red coffee cherries are harvested daily during the harvest season and taken to Ibanda. The cherries are weighed, assessed for quality, and the farmers are paid in cash. Trucks carry the cherries to a coffee station where they are floated and graded before being sun-dried.
Teams of people will turn the cherries several times each day to ensure even drying whilst the cherries mature and develop their full, rich flavours.
This natural coffee showcases the versatility and competence of Ugandan growers. You’ll find Strawberry, Praline, and Coconut Blossom Nectar and this cup boasts a creamy mouthfeel both as a filter or espresso brew.
