Head Roaster, Rachael Jowitt, talks about our recent coffee tasting and invites you to join us in February.
January saw us opening up the Voyager roastery for another fantastic open cupping event!
It was a great turnout, attracting everyone from professional baristas to home enthusiasts. We started with the basics of taste and how to cup coffee, then dived in at the deep end and started slurping our way through a big table of delicious, new season specialty coffees from Burundi, Kenya and Ethiopia.
Considering we had lots of beginners with varying palettes, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves (and the fine array of food and coffee cupcakes, kindly created by the wonderful Faye and Charlie). We had some great outcomes and February’s Round the World coffee has been chosen from the tasting, so we’ll be showcasing a sweet Burundi coffee at the end of the month, so members, keep your eyes peeled!
Our next open cupping event is going to be on the 22nd February, from 6pm until around 8pm at the Voyager roastery in Buckfastleigh, where we plan on having some more new coffees to taste, plus room for a bit of sensory education to begin with, so get your palettes ready!
If you’re one of our customers, a barista or café owner wanting to learn more or you just love coffee, we’d love to have you along. Invites are being printed as we speak, so anybody looking to come, do get in touch and we’ll send you one, space is limited, so please R.S.V.P for confirmation and we’ll but your name down on the list. Keep an eye out for updates on our social media and we’ll see you there!
